Meet The Team

Donnie Compton - Owner

Donnie Compton | Compton Automotive

Donnie Compton's automotive journey began long before Compton Automotive was founded. Growing up on a farm and in his father's repair shop, he developed an appreciation for hard work, problem-solving, and mechanical systems at an early age.

After nearly five decades in the profession, Donnie is still motivated by the same thing that first drew him to the trade: solving problems. While he enjoys the technical challenge of diagnosing and repairing complex vehicles, he believes the real goal is identifying the root cause of a customer's concern rather than simply treating the symptoms.

A lifelong enthusiast, Donnie's favorite vehicle is his 1957 Chevrolet, which he purchased while still in high school for just $150. Today, his dream vehicle is simple: seeing that same '57 Chevy fully completed and back on the road.

Outside of work, Donnie enjoys riding vintage motorcycles with friends from Oklahoma, spending time with his grandchildren, and listening to everything from classic rock to classical music.

One story that customers often enjoy hearing is about the pet raccoon he raised as a child after helping nurse it back to health.

Donnie believes that trust is the foundation of every successful customer relationship. In his view, a great automotive experience requires clear communication, follow-through, and a shared understanding between the customer and the shop throughout the repair process.

Joel Compton - Owner & Master Technician

For Joel Compton, the automotive industry has always been more than a career—it's been a lifelong passion. Having grown up around the family business, many of his earliest memories involve spending weekends working on vehicles alongside family members. What started as tinkering in the garage eventually led to automotive programs in high school and college, and a professional career that began in 2005.

As both an owner and technician, Joel enjoys working with his hands and solving problems. He finds tremendous satisfaction in taking something complex and broken, understanding how it works, and restoring it to proper working order.

Outside the shop, Joel enjoys vintage motorcycle rides with his father and friends, attending races, and spending time outdoors cooking for family and friends. He's also currently restoring a 1972 Chevrolet Chevelle.

Joel and his wife have three dogs, though he jokingly insists they're still a two-dog household. He also enjoys playing kickball with his wife—a tradition that began when they met through the sport in 2015.

Customers are often surprised to learn that Joel can juggle, knows how to use nunchucks, and serves as an automotive professor at the Eastfield campus for Dallas College.

Joel believes a great automotive experience starts with clear communication and realistic expectations. When customers understand the process and know their vehicle has been repaired correctly, it creates the peace of mind that comes from quality workmanship and a trusted relationship.

Certifications: ASE Certified Master Automobile Technician (A1–A9), Advanced Level Specialist (L1, L3, and L4), Undercar Specialist (X1), Maintenance and Light Repair Technician (G1), and Service Consultant (C1).

Jacob Todd - ASE Certified Technician

Jacob Todd | Compton Automotive

Jacob has been working in the automotive industry for four years and found his path to the profession after exploring several different trades following high school and college. While searching for the right fit, he discovered a strong connection to automotive repair and has been pursuing that passion ever since. Before joining Compton Automotive, Jacob worked at a local Nissan dealership, where he continued to build his technical knowledge and experience. He earned an associate degree in Automotive Technology from Dallas College and graduated from the NAPA Technician Apprenticeship Program at Compton Automotive, further strengthening his technical skills and commitment to the automotive profession.

What Jacob enjoys most about the automotive field is the challenge. He thrives on critical thinking, diagnosing complex issues, and finding the right solution. For him, one of the most rewarding parts of the job is seeing a quality repair leave the shop and knowing the vehicle was repaired correctly.

Outside of work, Jacob enjoys spending as much time outdoors as possible. Whether he's camping, hiking, backpacking, rock climbing, or following his favorite basketball and football teams, he appreciates activities that keep him active and engaged. He is also a musician and enjoys playing piano, bass guitar, and drums.

One of Jacob's favorite travel experiences was visiting Alaska, where he was captivated by the incredible mountains and untouched landscapes. He describes it as a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to experience nature on such a grand scale.

When he's not outdoors, Jacob enjoys board games and has built an impressive collection over the years.

Jacob believes a great automotive experience comes down to two things: quality workmanship and quality communication. He takes pride in every repair he performs and strives to ensure customers feel confident that their vehicle has been repaired with care, precision, and attention to detail.

Miles Valdes – ASE Certified Technician

Miles has been working in the automotive industry for five years and brings a thoughtful, problem-solving approach to every vehicle he works on. While he originally considered a career in computer science, he ultimately realized he preferred working with his hands and chose the automotive field instead. He earned an associate degree in Automotive Technology from Dallas College, further developing the technical knowledge and skills he brings to his work.

What Miles enjoys most is diagnosing difficult issues. For him, every challenging repair is like solving a puzzle—following the clues, finding the root cause, and helping customers get back on the road with confidence.

Outside of the shop, Miles enjoys playing Magic: The Gathering, video games, and spending time with his Bernese Mountain Dog, Meatball. One of his favorite parts of the day is coming home to Meatball's enthusiastic greeting. He also enjoys learning new things and is currently working on improving his Spanish.

When it comes to travel, one of Miles's most memorable experiences was hiking through the Grand Canyon. He was amazed by the scale of the landscape and the idea that something so breathtaking could be shaped over time by water.

Miles is also proud of learning to dance with his wife for their wedding—a skill the two of them hope to continue developing together.

He believes a great automotive experience starts with open and honest communication. Whether he's performing routine maintenance or tackling a difficult diagnostic challenge, Miles wants every customer to feel informed, respected, and confident in the work being performed on their vehicle.

With 25 years in the automotive industry, Thomas Collins understands that great service is about more than fixing vehicles—it's about building relationships. His career began after attending Eastfield College, where he entered the automotive field as a technician. Over the years, Thomas discovered that he also enjoyed helping people and transitioned into the service advisor role, where he could combine his technical knowledge with customer care.

Today, Thomas enjoys being the bridge between customers and technicians, helping people understand their vehicles and ensuring they receive the service they need.

Outside of work, Thomas enjoys golfing, fishing, and spending time with his twin daughters. One of his favorite getaways is visiting a friend's lake house in Athens, Texas, where he can relax and recharge.
